Camp Takajo

Camp Takajo is a full-season overnight summer camp for boys in Naples, Maine, founded in 1947 by Morton J. Goldman. The camp runs a single seven-week session and states that it is committed to full-season camping, accommodating shorter stays only in rare cases. Programming covers team sports including baseball, basketball, soccer, lacrosse, hockey and tennis; waterfront activities such as swimming, sailing, canoeing and water skiing; pioneering; and hobbies and skills including woodworking, journalism, music, arts and crafts and nature study. The stated aim is for each boy to find his niche within a family-oriented environment, with emphasis on integrity, fair play, respect for self and others, and appreciation of nature. Takajo is accredited by the American Camp Association and a member of Maine Camp Experience, and it offers a virtual tour and an active Tak Talk blog.

Full-season camping only, with rare exceptions arranged directly with the director. Visiting Day Saturday, July 25; Rookie Day Thursday, July 23.
