Camp Med-O-Lark

Camp Med-o-lark is an independently run, arts-focused sleepaway camp in Washington, Maine, on a three-mile lake, serving campers ages 7 to 16 since 1967. The program is entirely camper-choice: children design their own schedules from visual and performing arts offerings that include painting, pottery, hot glass and stained glass, photography and darkroom work, music, theater, dance, circus and flying trapeze, fashion design, candle making, jewelry and cooking, alongside traditional waterfront activities. The camp describes itself as screen-free and has been nicknamed Camp Kindness for a culture that emphasizes inclusion and exploration without pressure to perform or compete. Families from more than 50 countries have attended. The camp is ACA accredited and also runs a Discovery Weekend for prospective campers and a family weekend.
