Camp Matoaka

Camp Matoaka is an all-girls overnight summer camp in Smithfield, Maine, operating since 1951 on a 150-acre property with 1.5 miles of waterfront on East Pond. Campers, roughly ages 7 to 15, come from more than 40 states and countries and choose from over 30 activities spanning sports, arts, adventure, waterfront and equestrian. The camp offers two 3.5-week half sessions and one seven-week full session, with a visiting day in mid-July. Weekly individual laundry service is included in tuition, and ground transportation from Boston and Portland airports and several Northeast pickup points is available for a fee, as are chaperoned group flights from major cities. Optional programs include private tennis lessons with nationally ranked instructors and English riding lessons offered three or six times per week. Matoaka is accredited by the American Camp Association.

Two half sessions and one full session are offered. Ground transportation is available for a fee from Boston Logan and Portland airports and from New Rochelle NY, Fairfield and Hartford CT, and Needham MA; chaperoned group flights run from several major cities. Weekly laundry service is included at no extra charge. Optional private tennis lessons and English horseback riding lessons (three or six times per week) are available.
