POWER PLAY to Open at West Village Theatre with Full Circle Theatre

Full Circle Theatre will present the world premiere of POWER PLAY, a new comedy by Erin Weir inspired by Shakespeare's THE TAMING OF THE SHREW.

Set in the world of professional hockey, the play follows Kate Baptista, head of communications for the Padua Pythons, who is tasked with managing the public image of newly acquired defenseman Pete Ruff. After a public incident thrusts them into the spotlight, the pair find themselves navigating a fake relationship that becomes increasingly complicated as personal feelings begin to emerge.

The production reimagines Shakespeare's battle-of-wills comedy through the lens of contemporary sports culture, exploring media narratives, public perception, family dynamics, and romance.

Directed by Danielle Baker, POWER PLAY continues Full Circle Theatre's focus on contemporary adaptations and original works. The company describes the production as a mix of sports media satire, romantic comedy, and theatrical comedy.
