One Yellow Rabbit Cancels HIGH PERFORMANCE RODEO

One Yellow Rabbit, led by Artistic Director Blake Brooker, regrets to announce that the 36th annual High Performance Rodeo, Calgary's International Festival of the Arts, led by Producer Oliver Armstrong will not proceed as originally planned. HPRodeo was meant to present 75+ artists in 20+ shows across 10 venues in downtown Calgary, from January 18 to February 6, 2022.

The following statement has been provided on behalf of the festival:

"Despite falling within the current government regulations for COVID-19, we have made the difficult decision not to proceed with the High Performance Rodeo January 18 - February 6, 2022.

While of course we are deeply disappointed, the safety of our community is our top priority. We're currently communicating with all of our artists and crews, and exploring our options, including the potential of rescheduling individual events or the festival as a whole. We thank you all for your patience as we look to what's next!

Ticketholders should hold on to their tickets, and wait to hear from the box office about their options. For those who'd like to resolve their tickets now, the box office is standing by to support them with options, including full refunds.

Stay warm. Stay well. Take care of one another. We can't wait to bring the wild when it's safe to do so."

This was meant to be a return for the festival, which opted for a limited online offering in 2021 for its 35th anniversary. The last full HPRodeo took place near capacity in January 2020. The festival will now look at other options for later in 2022.

Celebrating its 36th year, the High Performance Rodeo is an annual festival featuring theatre, dance, comedy, music and multimedia presentations. Founded by One Yellow Rabbit Co-Artistic Director Michael Green, the festival is currently curated and produced by Artistic Director Blake Brooker and Producer Oliver Armstrong and the One Yellow Rabbit team, it is dedicated to entertaining as wide an audience as imaginable, while remaining fertile ground for the progressive and wild. The High Performance Rodeo is the largest festival of its kind in Western Canada and a partner of Chinook Blast.
