Happy Weekend!  It was a fun week to be in New York, if you like snow!  Unfortunately, the snowstorm led to the cancellation of one of the events I was planning on attending this week: Wednesday Night at the Iguana, hosted by Richard Skipper and Dana Lorge. This weekly singers' showcase is a great way to spend a Wednesday evening, and this past Wednesday was supposed to have been the birthday celebration of Richard Skipper himself!  Mother Nature had other plans, though, and the birthday celebration has been rescheduled for next week's show.  Scheduled to appear at the Iguana on Wednesday, February 17th are James Alexander, Arianna, David Gurland, Rita Ellis Hammer, Dora Rubin, Joey Infante, Micheal McDonald, Barbara Porteus, Helena Grenot, Jillian Lorraine, Maureen Taylor, Greta Herrin , Pam Tate, and more!

Before the storm hit, I did manage to make it out to Jim Caruso's Cast Party at Birdland on Monday night, which was terrific (as usual)!  There were great performances all around, by people like William Blake, David Goldstein, 13-year old jazz piano prodigy Beka Gochiashvili, Dorothy Bishop as Sarah Palin, Hilary Kole, Aaron Weinstein, and former TV talk show diva turned documentary-making diva Ricki Lake!  Jim was the host with the most, and Tedd Firth and Steve Doyle (on piano and bass, respectively) did a stellar job of backing up the rotating cast of performers!

That's all I managed to squeeze in before the snowstorm hit, but next week promises to be full of some terrific entertainment!

Coming up this week...

Sunday, February 14thJenna Esposito Sings Connie Francis at The Metropolitan Room.  Yes, it's my very own Connie Francis tribute show, back for a special 4:00 p.m. Valentine's Day performance at The Metropolitan Room!

Monday, February 15thJim Caruso's Cast Party at Birdland.  Hosted by Jim Caruso, this fantastic open mic runs from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. but make sure to get there early to sign up if you want to sing!

Tuesday, February 16thAnn Hampton Callaway at Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola.  My favorite jazzy diva returns to the big apple in her show, Ann Hampton Callaway Swings The Great American Songbook.  With the amazing view of the skyline from the club and the fabulous music that's sure to be created, this should be a memorable Manhattan evening!  Shows are at 7:30 and 9:30 p.m.

Thursday, February 18thMichelle Collier at Don't Tell Mama in A Tribute to the Hollywood Blondes, featuring songs originally performed by Ginger Rogers, Betty Grable, Betty Hutton, Doris Day, Marilyn Monroe, Shirley Jones, Madeline Kahn, and more!  Show begins at 7:30 p.m.

Friday, February 19thPamela Luss at The Metropolitan Room in her new show, Swinging The '60s - From Rock to the Rat Pack.  Joined by a swinging quintet, Pamela is sure to put her own spin on the songs from this musically diverse decade - should be a fun night!  Show is at 9:45 p.m.
