SONGS IN STAGES Gala Set for NYC as SONA Foundation Opens Mental Health Grant Applications
Grants support mental health care access for songwriters and composers during Mental Health Awareness Month.
The SONA Foundation has officially opened applications for its Therapy Assistance Project during May's Mental Health Awareness Month, expanding access to mental health care for songwriters and composers.
The announcement comes ahead of TSF's annual Songs In Stages gala, taking place June 11 during Songwriter Week in New York City. This year's event will celebrate the music of Broadway and benefit both The SONA Foundation and NYU Langone Health. The gala will be held at 54 Below, with limited tickets remaining.
The Therapy Assistance Project provides $1,250 grants paid directly to licensed mental health service providers on behalf of approved recipients. The initiative is designed to reduce financial barriers to care within the songwriting community, allowing recipients to select their own provider and offering case management support for those seeking help identifying a therapist.
TSF's board is led by acclaimed songwriters Kay Hanley and Anne Preven, who continue to advocate for expanded wellness and financial support resources across the music community.
"Mental health support remains one of the most urgent and necessary resources for creators today," said Kellie Brown, Executive Director, "The Therapy Assistance Project was designed to ensure songwriters and composers can access care without the financial barriers that too often prevent people from seeking help."
Founded to provide direct support and advocacy for songwriters and composers, The SONA Foundation continues to expand its programming and initiatives focused on creator wellness and long-term sustainability within the entertainment industry.
Applications for the Therapy Assistance Project are now open. Additional information and tickets for Songs In Stages, along with more Mental Health Awareness Month events and resources, are available now.
