Currently appearing in RAGTIME, Benko will debut EUPHONIC GUMBO, a program inspired by her connection to New Orleans music and culture. The show draws on early jazz, Cajun influences, folk traditions, and classic American songwriting, weaving together musical styles associated with the Crescent City.
Benko describes the performance as a “love letter” to New Orleans, incorporating elements ranging from Jelly Roll Morton’s “Spanish tinge” to references to piano traditions and American popular song.
