Johnny Rodgers & His Band Perform POP...WITH PIZAZZ 7/17, 7/18 At Feinstein's At Loews Regency

By:

FEINSTEIN'S AT LOEWS REGENCY, the nightclub proclaimed "Best of New York" by New York Magazine, and "an invaluable New York institution" by The New York Post, continues its 10th Anniversary season with the debut of award winning singer/songwriter/pianist Johnny Rodgers and the Johnny Rodgers Band in their new show "Pop... with pizAZZ" on July 17 and 18. For "Pop... with pizAZZ" Johnny and his band will present tunes from the "new" American Song Book as well as timeless favorites. The show - directed by Mark Waldrop and featuring Brian Glassman on bass, Danny Mallon on drums, Joe Ravo on guitar and special guest Tedd Firth on piano - runs at Regency Hotel (540 Park Avenue at 61st Street).

For his show at Feinstein's Johnny Rodgers - described as "a combination of Elton John, Billy Joel and James Taylor all rolled into one," by Show Business Weekly and "a first-rate singer songwriter with robust vocals and exuberant pianism" by the Chicago Tribune - will celebrate his concurrent CD EP releases Bound Together and Let's Make A Date which featured special guest Liza Minnelli. Songs will include Rodgers indie/pop flavored originals such as the touching "Father's Day" ballad, the rally cry title track, "Bound Together" and the Beatlesque "Cry for Freedom." The show will also feature his new radio single "The Best of You In Me" and the Randy Newman classic "You Can Leave Your Hat On", which Rodgers performed at many of Minnelli's concerts.

Johnny Rodgers is a favorite in the New York performance scene. Johnny's original songs stimulate the sophisticated palette. He creates bubbly and romantic pop ballads, Taylor-laced melodies, and sultry jazz all stirred with piano driven rock. In 2002, Rodgers marked his arrival to New York earning both a Back Stage Bistro Award for Outstanding New York Debut and a MAC Award for Best Male New York Debut. Johnny Rodgers pleases not only with his original songs but also his boy-next-door charm and creamy, dreamy crooner's voice. Liza Minnelli discovered Rodgers and brought him on as her pianist and guest performer for her world tours, and he recently debuted on Broadway in the Tony Award winning Liza's At The Palace.

He and his band have performed at the Los Angeles Ford Amphitheatre, Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, the premiere New York City clubs; Arturo Sandoval's and other Miami Beach jazz clubs; and many festivals like Festival Miami. The 2008 winner of Billboard's World Song Contest and the Jamie deRoy & friends ASCAP Foundation song writer award, Rodgers also co-wrote the song I Would Never Leave You which is featured on Liza's new recording Liza's At The Palace. Produced by the legendary Phil Ramone, the CD entered in at #6 on Billboard's Top 10 Cast Shows sales chart in February.

FEINSTEIN'S AT LOEWS REGENCY will present Johnny Rodgers on Friday, July 17 and Saturday, July 18 at 8:30 PM. The shows have a $25.00 cover with $40.00 premium seats, both with a $25.00 food and beverage minimum. Jackets are suggested but not required. FEINSTEIN'S AT LOEWS REGENCY is located at 540 Park Avenue at 61st Street in New York City.
