Cabaret performer and producer Jamie deRoy will present a special evening featuring the award-winning trio Modern Man on Wednesday, August 15th (7:30PM) at the New York hotspot The Metropolitan Room (34 West 22nd Street between 5th & 6th Avenues). "A cross between Crosby, Stills & Nash and the Marx Brothers, Modern Man----David Buskin, Rob Carlson and George Wurzbach are three celebrated singers and songwriters who have come together to bring entertainment, laughter and delight to audiences. Modern Man's clever song parodies are a litany of lunacy, interweaving themes that range from God to Godzilla, manliness to cluelessness – they have been characterized as "filling the void between The Three Tenors and The Three Stooges."  Their terrific instrumentals, polished vocal harmony and hilarious wit leave critics and fans in hysterics.  In 2002 they were awarded with Backstage's Bistro Award for Best Musical Comedy," state press notes.

David Buskin is a singer/songwriter who has had his songs recorded by Astrud Gilberto, Judy Collins, Johnny Mathis, Roberta Flack and Dixie Carter.  Acoustic music fans will remember Buskin as half of "Buskin and Batteau."  He is a winner of a Clio Award for his jingles for Coca Cola, Burger King, NBC and the US Postal Service.  He also helped create the animated children's show "Generation O" that was seen on the WB Kid's Network.  He is currently working on a play to be directed by Tony Award winner James Naughton.

Rob Carlson is a writer, producer and comedian.  His first album, "Peaceable Kingdom" was a critical success.  Since then, he has continued to perform and write working out of his own creative service studio called "The Producers." His song parodies can be heard on the American Comedy Network, a national syndicater of radio comedy. Radio listeners will also recognize him from his recent weekly program as social and political commentator, "Ramblin' Bob."  He is currently working on a new solo album and is close to completing a novel.

George Wurzbach is an award winning composer, performer and producer.  His songs and arrangements have been performed by Johnny Cash, Kathy Mattea and Roy Clark.  Wurzbach is the author of Country Riffs for Piano and operates Rowdy Music, a music scoring and production studio in Brooklyn.  He also teaches music theory, history and business at Monmouth University.

Jamie deRoy's theatre producing credits include: Broadway: Coram Boy, Jay Johnson: The Two and Only (Tony Award), Chita Rivera: The Dancer's Life, and Say Goodnight Gracie.
