Artemisia Lefay To Premiere IT'S ALL A SWINDLE At Don't Tell Mama
Pianist Renée Guerrero and bassist Clayton Thompson join the Weimar kabarett chanteuse onstage.
Acclaimed kabarett performer and composer Artemisia LeFay will premiere IT'S ALL A SWINDLE (ALLES SCHWINDEL) at Don't Tell Mama on Tuesday, June 16 at 7 p.m.
The performance will feature LeFay returning to repertoire of the Weimar Republic, joined by double bassist Clayton Thompson and pianist Renée Guerrero.
The new cabaret will explore Weimar-era music and themes of political upheaval through song. The program will draw on music and texts from artists of the 1920s and 1930s, examining how performers and writers responded to periods of political instability.
The show will incorporate songs and material associated with figures including Claire Waldoff, Kurt Weill, Mischa Spoliansky, and Hans Eisler, situating their work within a contemporary context.
