The story of Captain Richard Phillips being taken hostage by Somali pirates has been turned into a gripping new film hitting theaters on October 11th. CBS SUNDAY MORNING's David Martin sat down with the real-life captain, as well as two-time Oscar winner Tom Hanks, who plays Phillips. Check out the segment below!

The thriller also stars Catherine Keener, Max Martini, Yul Vazquez, Michael Chernus, Chris Mulkey, Corey Johnson, David Warshofsky, John Magaro and Angus MacInnes.

The film tells the true story of Captain Richard Phillips and the 2009 hijacking by Somali pirates of the US-flagged MV Maersk Alabama, the first American cargo ship to be hijacked in two hundred years. Captain Phillips is and based upon the book, "A Captain's Duty: Somali Pirates, Navy SEALs, and Dangerous Days at Sea," by Richard Phillips with Stephan Talty.
