Taylor Swift used her official Facebook page today to celebrate the fact that her new album '1989' sold over 1.2 million copies during its debut week. Posted the singer: Industry experts predicted 1989 would sell 650k first week. You went and bought 1.287 million albums. AND IT'S GOT ME LIKE and then shared a video of her rapping to Kendrick's 'Backstreet Freestyle". Check out the video!

Today, Billboard.com reported that Swift's latest album '1989' has sold 1.287 million copies in its first week, making it the largest sales week for an album since 2002. The results are according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Released on October 27th via Big Machine Records, the LP is the singer's fourth No. 1 album, following 2012's Red, 2010's Speak Now and 2008's Fearless.

Billboard shares other staggering facts about the album's debut:

'1989' had the largest sales week for an album since June 2, 2002, when Eminem's The Eminem Show sold 1.322 million in its second chart week at No. 1.

Swift is the only act to earn three million-selling weeks with an album.

1989 is immediately the biggest-selling album released in 2014, and the only one to sell a million in total, after only a week on sale. It tops Coldplay's Ghost Stories, which has sold 745,000.

Following one week on sale, 1989 is the second-largest-selling album of 2014, led only by the Frozen soundtrack.

1989 is just the 19th album to sell a million copies in a week since SoundScan started tracking sales in 1991.
