As BWW reported yesterday, Robert Downey Jr. appeared on yesterday's ELLEN and made what appeared to be an official announcement that a 4th installement of the IRON MAN franchise was in the works.
"I know there are going to be a bunch more Marvel movies," he explained, "and they have big ideas of how to do it best and [they're] in the middle of negotiation, blah blah blah...". After more probing by the host, he finally admitted "Okay, yes!"
However during his appearance on last night's LATE SHOW WITH DAVID LETTERMAN, the actor had a very different story. "There [are] no plans for an Iron Man 4," he shared.
When questioned why the money making project would not be made, he answered "That's a valid question. Like it hasn't made enough money? Yeah, I guess they have too much money or something. There is no script for Iron Man 4. They do have a plan and I think they're going to announce it [soon]."
Undaunted, the CBS host tried a second time to get a straight answer. "Just between us, no," he continued, "But, I'm going to do other stuff with Marvel. I'm still going to be involved with Marvel and there's going to be plenty of fun stuff to happen."
