Winfrey has interviewed Lohan for OWN and the network will also program an eight-part docu-series following the actress' rehabilitation.

"I think no matter how many times you fail, you fall down in your life, you certainly have the opportunity until your last breath to be redeemed," Winfrey told co-hosts Charlie Rose, Gayle King and Norah O'Donnell. "I'm in the business of interviewing people about their lives. And so to sit and to talk to her about where she is in her life, and I did the other day, and I felt that she was honest, she was authentic and that she is ready."

Of OWN, Winfrey said that while it may have gotten off to a rocky start, "Now we're having fun, we're making money, we're really in the business and doing very well."

Asked about her upcoming 60th birthday, Winfrey said she often thinks about people who haven't made it to the milestone. "And every time I come to New York, and many times just getting dressed in the morning, I often think about 9/11," she said. "I think about all of those people who were getting ready that morning and didn't make it. So I think being able to claim that number and to own it, I think, 'bring it on, 60!' And when I hear women are going to turn 40 and they're like, 'I can't believe I'm going to turn 40,' it's so irritating."

And how will she celebrate it? "I'm going to have the biggest blow-out party I can dream of, that's what I'm going to do. All these years I've had parties for other people, celebrating legends, celebrating other people. I think I'm going to do one for myself."
