In the film, Catherine Weldon (Chastain), a portrait painter from 1890s Brooklyn, travels to Dakota to paint a portrait of Sitting BULL and becomes embroiled in the Lakota peoples' struggle over the rights to their land.
The film was screened at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival.[1] It is scheduled to be released on June 29, 2018, by A24.
