According to the Hollywood Reporter, Hulu has acquired the upcoming series LITTLE FIRES EVERYWHERE starring Kerry Washington and Reese Witherspoon. This television adaptation of Celeste Ng's best-selling novel LITTLE FIRES EVERYWHERE sparked a multiple-outlet bidding war and eventually was quickly ordered by Hulu.

"At Hello Sunshine, we strive to shine a light on female-driven stories that are rooted in inspiration, emotion and truth - all of which form the bedrock of Celeste Ng's ingenious work," said Witherspoon. "Hulu has a rich history of transforming groundbreaking literature into groundbreaking television, and we are confident that their talented team will use this story to spur a long-overdue dialogue around race, class, and what it means to be a mother. With Kerry Washington, Liz Tigelaar and now Hulu, Hello Sunshine has brought together a dream lineup of creative collaborators, and we are privileged and humbled to have the opportunity to work with them to bring this important project to life."

Kerry Washington stated "As producers, we at Simpson Street are so proud to be part of this team to tell this extraordinary story inspired by Celeste Ng's phenomenal novel and we are thrilled to be embarking on this journey with Hulu. As an actress, I am floored to have the opportunity to work alongside Reese Witherspoon exploring the rich themes of this story playing these dynamic characters."

The book follows the events that transpire after the controversial adoption of a Chinese-American baby divides wealthy Shaker Heights, Ohio - and specifically a landlord and her mysterious tenant, single mother Mia. Liz Tigelaar (Casual, Life Unexpected) will pen the script, exec produce and serve as showrunner. Washington and her ABCStudios-based Simpson Street banner topper Pilar Savone will exec produce. Witherspoon will also exec produce via her ABC Studios-based shingle alongside Hello Sunshine topper Lauren Neustadter. Author Ng will serve as a producer. The book was a September pick of Witherspoon's book club and an instant best-seller, appearing on many year-end best-of lists for 2017.

Witherspoon is also prepping for the upcoming second season of HBO's Emmy-winning Big Little Lies due in 2019 and is set to star opposite Jennifer Aniston and exec produce an untitled morning show drama that landed at Apple with a two-season order. The Oscar winner and Emmy nominee's Pacific Standard is also exec producing Apple's Kristen Wiig's straight-to-series comedy and developing Octavia Spencer starrer Are You Sleeping for the tech giant. Witherspoon is repped by CAA, LBI Entertainment and Hansen Jacobson.

Kerry Washington, best known for her role as Olivia Pope in ABC's Shonda Rhimes-produced Scandal, is preparing to wrap the seven-season run April 19. Washington earned an Emmy nomination in 2013 for the role, marking the first time an African-American was nominated for best drama actress in the past 18 years. Washington also starred and exec produced HBO's Emmy-nominated telepic Confirmation, for which she earned a nomination for her role as Anita Hill. She is also the executive producer of Facebook watch show Five Points.
