Telemundo Dominates This Summer as No. 1 Spanish-Language Network in Key Demo

Telemundo, the contemporary Spanish-language network for Hispanics in America, is ending the summer as the #1 Spanish-language network during Monday-Friday 8-11 p.m. primetime in adults 18-49 (806,000) and adults 18-34 (367,000), according to Nielsen. Telemundo outperformed Univision by 10% in adults 18-49 (735,000) and by 18% in adults 18-34 (311,000), while delivering more than three times the amount of audience of Unimás in both demos (257,000 adults 18-49, 103,000 adults 18-34).

Among all broadcast networks in English and Spanish, Telemundo was ranked #3 during Monday-Friday 8-11 p.m. in adults 18-34 (477,000) during the month of August, outperforming CBS (402,000) and FOX (334,000) by +19% and 43%, respectively. Telemundo outperformed all cable nets among adults 18-49 and adults 18-34 in the daypart.

Telemundo also beat the combined delivery of Univision and Unimás in August during Monday-Friday 8-11 p.m. among adults 18-49 by +10% (Telemundo 984,000 vs. 894,000) and +29% among adults 18-34 (Telemundo 477,000 vs. 371,000) - making it the first month in network history that Telemundo outperformed Univision and Unimás' combined delivery among adults 18-49 and second month among adults 18-34 during Monday-Friday 8-11 p.m. primetime. Additionally, Telemundo also outperformed the combined share of Univision and Unimás among adults 18-49 (52% vs 48%) and adult 18-34 (56% vs 44%) in the daypart.

Telemundo's successful primetime lineup of contemporary stories produced specifically for Hispanics in the U.S. - "Jenni Rivera: Mariposa de Barrio" at 8 p.m., "Sin Senos Sí Hay Paraíso" at 9 p.m. and "El Señor de los Cielos" at 10 p.m. - consistently outperformed each of Univision's most recent premieres this month among adults 18-49, including "Enamorándome de Ramón" on August 8 at 8 p.m. (736,000 vs 616,000) and "La Tierra Prometida" on August 7 at 10 p.m. (1,301,000 vs 805,000), and "Mi Marido Tiene Familia" at 9 p.m. on August 21 (995,000 vs 719,000).
