Broadway Profiles: The Women of Broadway offers viewers the best seat in the house to the heart and soul of America's premier entertainment venue, Broadway. The special, premiering exclusively on WLIW21 Monday, June 8 at 8 p.m., is an entertaining mix of exclusive star interviews and exhilarating performances, including behind-the-scenes footage of rehearsals and opening nights of past, recent and upcoming shows. Four of the top leading ladies of the theater and Broadway's most prominent female director share insights into the productions that first brought them fame, as well as the exciting challenges and nuances of their newest shows on Broadway.

The Women of Broadway celebrates Sutton Foster, the understudy who became one of Broadway's brightest young stars in Thoroughly Modern Millie, The Drowsy Chaperone, Young Frankenstein and Shrek the Musical; Christine Ebersole, the Grey Gardens and 42nd Street Tony Award winner now in Blithe Spirit; Academy Award winner Estelle Parsons of August: Osage County, now in her sixth decade of stage appearances; Julie Taymor, the innovative director of The Lion King currently translating Spider-Man for the Great White Way; and Charlotte d'Amboise, the gifted ballerina who turned herself into a Broadway "hoofer," a standout in musicals Chicago and A Chorus Line. The Women of Broadway is part of the Broadway Profiles series, hosted by actress Kate Shindle (Legally Blonde the Musical). The special will premiere nationwide this summer on public television (check local listings).

During the broadcast premiere, Judy McLane (Tanya from Mamma Mia) will be live in the WLIW21 studio to provide additional insight into the world of women on Broadway. WLIW21 will also offer exclusive opportunities for viewers to enjoy great seats and behind-the-scenes experiences at two of Broadway's biggest productions: Mamma Mia's eighth anniversary cast party, and a post-performance Q&A and meet-and-greet with The Cast of the Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning play August: Osage County.
