The New York Daily News is reporting that ‘The Notebook' is set to be turned into a stage musical. The hit tearjerker of a book written by Nicholas Sparks, is about a young couple falling in love in 1940s. After charming audiences with its big screen adaptation starring Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams, it is now being shaped into a stage musical.

The musical is being adapted by "One Tree Hill" actress Bethany Joy Galeotti and record producer Ron Aniello, according to the Daily News.

The producers are jump-starting the production in Wilmington, N.C., with a workshop production of the new theatrical in October.

While neither of the production's catalysts have written or performed on Broadway, Galeotti recently directed her first episode of "One Tree Hill" and Aniello wrote music and lyrics for "The Lonely," a musical based on a "Twilight Zone" episode.

The creative team is holding auditions for all roles in early August. The details can be found at TheNotebookMusical.com.
