According to Entertainment Weekly, Stockard Channing will play Julianna Marguiles' character Alicia's "mercurial" mother in CBS's The Good Wife, season four. Channing will appear in at least one episode.

The actress joins a season packed with big stars, including Kristin Chenoweth, Nathan Lane, Christina Ricci, Maura Tierney, Amanda Peet, Marc Warren, Miriam Shor, Brian Dennehy and Carrie Preston.

Channing has also appeared on television in NBC's The West Wing and her own Stockard Channing Show. Her film credits include Grease and more.

Channing last appeared on Broadway in 2011's Other Desert Cities. Her other Broadway credits include Pal Joey, The Lion in Winter, The Little Foxes, Four Baboons Adoring the Sun, Six Degrees of Separation, Love Letters, The House of Blue Leaves, Joe Egg, The Golden Age, The Rink, They're Playing Our Song, No Hard Feelings and Two Gentlemen of Verona. Her off-Broadway credits include Hapgood, Woman in Mind, The Lady and the Clarinet and Adaptation/Next.

The Good Wife season four premieres on CBS this Sunday, September 30, 2012.
