'Sopranos' Gandolfini & Chase Reunite on 'Twylight Zones' Flick

James Gandolfini, the actor in the leading role of the HBO series "The Sopranos" for eight years, will join forces with his former TV producer David Chase in the upcoming film Twylight Zones, reports Deadline.com.

The film, which is slated for release later this year, follows the story of a New Jersey rock band trying to make a name for themselves in the 1960s. Gandolfini will play a father who is unhappy with his son's decision to pursue rock music. It will be produced by Paramount Pictures.

David Chase, who wrote and will be directing the film, was executive producer of "The Sopranos" for six seasons, ending the run in 2007. He has won seven Emmy Awards.

James Gandolfini is best known for his performance as Tony Soprano in HBO's "The Sopranos" for which he received a Golden Globe, four SAG Awards and three Emmy Awards. He made his Broadway debut when he appeared with Jessica Lange and Alec Baldwin in A Streetcar Named Desire. His numerous film credits include Romance & Cigarettes; The Man Who Wasn't There; The Castle; The Mexican; Get Shorty, the upcoming The Taking of Pelham 1, 2, 3, Where The Wild Things Are and In the Loop. He executive produced the Emmy-nominated HBO Documentary Film "Alive Day Memories: Home From Iraq."

Gandolfini appeared in Broadway's God of Carnage in 2009. He's set to reprise with the rest of the original Broadway cast this spring, starring at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles from April 5 to May 15th.
