The Princess Grace Foundation-USA (PGF-USA) announces the availability of applications for the 2011 Princess Grace Awards in theater, playwriting, dance performance, choreography, and film. Founded in 1982, in memory of Princess Grace (Kelly) of Monaco, the Foundation identifies and assists emerging artists in theater, dance and film and has awarded more than $8 million to nearly 500 individuals nationwide. Full guidelines and applications are available at www.pgfusa.org.

Executive Director Toby Boshak notes, "Throughout the difficult economic climate over the past few years, PGF-USA has proudly maintained the same level of support to deserving artists around the country."

Theater Awards are offered in the form of scholarships, apprenticeships and fellowships. Grants are awarded based on the quality of the emerging artist's past work, his/her potential for future excellence, and the impact the collaboration between the nominating organization and the artist will have on the individual's artistic growth.

To apply for a Theater Award, a candidate must be nominated by the Artistic Director of a theater company or the Dean or Department Chair of a professional non-profit theater school. Scholarships are commensurate with tuition costs; apprenticeships and fellowships are commensurate with proposed fees for artists' engagement with a company. Some previous Princess Grace Theater Awards winners include Christopher Ashley, Oscar Isaac, Tony Kushner, Tina Landau, Anna D. Shapiro, Eric Simonson, and Michael Wilson.

To apply for a Playwriting Award, individuals must submit an un-produced, unpublished full-length play. The winning playwright receives a $7,500 cash grant, a residency (including transportation costs) at the prestigious New Dramatists, Inc. in New York City, and opportunity for the winning play to be licensed and published by Samuel French, Inc. Some previous Princess Grace Playwriting Awards winners include Sheila Callaghan, Jesse Kellerman, James Mcmanus, and Adam Rapp.

All Princess Grace Awards applicants must be U.S. citizens or have permanent resident status at the time of application. Additionally, all applicants (except playwriting) must be nominated by a non-profit organization (school or company) with which they will be affiliated during the grant period (September 2011 - August 2012). Please visit www.pgfusa.org for applications and more information.
