According to Deadline.com, NBC has announced that actors James Murray and Patrick Heusinger will be starring in their upcoming futuristic new drama entitled 'Beautiful People'.  The dramatic project has been penned by Michael McDonald, script writer for ABC's 'Cougar Town'.

The story will take place in a futuristic society in which human beings live together among life-like androids called 'Mechanicals'. The plot focuses on a woman named Lydia whose deceased husband was the founder of the company that makes the androids. James Murray will play Lydia's son,who stirs up controversy when he suggests that the 'Mechanicals' should enjoy the same civil rights that humans have.

Patrick Heusinger, who recently appeared in 'Royal Pains', will play a 'Mechanical' who poses as a human servant. He experiences real human emotions when his daughter is killed in a car accident.  The pilot will be co-produced by ABC Studios and Universal TV,and will be directed by Stephen Hopkins.

Heusinger made a recent guest appearance in the CBS drama 'Unforgettable'. He appeared on Broadway in the Geoffrey Nauffts play 'Next Fall' which was directed by Sheryl Kaller and presented by Elton John and David Furnish. He also appeared in the 2004 Broadway revival of 'Fiddler on the Roof'.
