According to a recent Deadline exclusive, three new cast members have joined the indie drama THE SCENT OF RAIN AND LIGHTNING -- Maika Monroe, Maggie Grace and Brad Carter.

The film, which has just entered pre-production, is based off the Nancy Pickard novel of the same name. The plot tells the "story of a young woman forced to confront old wounds and the destructive power of hate when she learns that the man who killed her parents has been released from prison."

THE SCENT OF RAIN AND LIGHTNING is directed by Blake Robbins and produced by No Coast Entertainment's Casey Twenter, Jeff Robison and Jeff Johnson, as well as Kevin Waller, Michael Davis, and Maggie Grace.

Maggie Grace, best known for her roles in TAKEN and LOST, was last seen on Broadway in Roundabout's 2013 production of PICNIC.

Brad Carter has appeared in HBO's TRUE DETECTIVE, SONS OF ANARCHY and the film DIXIELAND. Coming up are the films BLACK MASS, THE REVENANT, THE HIGHWAY IS FOR GAMBLERS and EAT ME.

Maika Monroe will soon be seen in THE 5TH WAVE and INDEPENDENCE DAY: RESURGENCE. She recently starred on the big screen in ECHOES OF WAR, IT FOLLOWS, THE GUEST, LABOR DAY, THE BLING RING and more.
