Noel Neill, TV's Lois Lane on SUPERMAN, Dies at Age 95

The New York Times reports that Noel Neill, the actress who portrayed Lois Lane in the 1940s SUPERMAN film serials and on television in the 1950s, passed away on Sunday, July 3rd at her home in Tucson. She was 95. Her death was confirmed by her biographer, Larry Ward.

Neill played Lois Lane in the 1948 film serials Superman and 1950's Atom Man vs. Superman, as well as the 1950s television series Adventures of Superman. Neill grew up in Minneapolis, Minnesota and took up professional acting and modeling in the early 1940s before landing the role of Lois Lane.

She subsequently appeared in various productions of the Superman franchise, often playing the parent or other relative of one of the main characters, including the 1978 Superman feature film, the 1980s TV series Superboy, the 1990s primetime drama Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman and the 2006 film Superman Returns.
