A new MUPPET SHOW pilot is currently in development for ABC, according to a tweet from Production Weekly. Television veteren Randall Einhorn will produce and direct the pilot. Fans of the Muppets have been demanding a reboot of the Muppet Show for decades. Their are multiple Facebook and Twitter accounts dedicated to the return of the Muppets, and new pilot announcement given hope to many pining fans.

Since their creation by Jim Henson in the mid-1950s, The Muppets have expanded their franchise over multiple television, film, and media platforms. Disney re-launched the Muppets film career in 2008 with the Jason Segal-penned feature film THE MUPPETS. Another film, MUPPETS MOST WANTED, was released in 2014. Disney Junior currently airs a kid-friendly spin-off MUPPET MOMENTS, which is compiled of short skits dealing with lessons of morality. The last series to star the marionette-puppetts for kids and adults alike was MUPPETS TONIGHT, which ran on ABC from 1996-1998.
