The National Theatre will present special encore National Theatre Live broadcasts of FRANKENSTEIN and ONE MAN, TWO GUVNORS.

FRANKENSTEIN, a new play by Nick Dear based on Mary Shelley’s novel, directed by Danny Boyle, starring 2012 “Best Actor” Olivier Award joint winners Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller, will play in select cinemas in the U.S. and Canada beginning June 1, 2012. In the stage production, Cumberbatch and Miller alternated the roles of Victor Frankenstein and the Creature. FRANKENSTEIN was filmed twice so cinema audiences will be able to see the Olivier-winning actors in each role.

ONE MAN, TWO GUVNORS, a comedy by Richard Bean, based on Carlo Goldoni’s The Servant of Two Masters, with songs by Grant Olding, directed by Nicholas Hytner & starring James Corden, will play in select independent cinemas and performing arts centers beginning with Canada on Saturday, May 5 and in the U.S. from May 16, 2012. ONE MAN, TWO GUVNORS is currently playing acclaimed productions in the West End and on Broadway where it was just nominated for seven Tony Awards including Best Actor (James Corden), Best Director (Nicholas Hytner) and Best Score (Grant Olding).

Public demand for additional broadcasts has encouraged these limited encore runs.

The encore broadcasts of the two titles, which were originally captured live in March and September of 2011 respectively, conclude the third season of National Theatre Live. The fourth season begins in cinemas and arts centers this fall. The first three seasons of NT Live were seen by over 700,000 people on over 700 screens in 22 countries. The titles and dates for the fourth season of NT Live will be announced soon.
