NBC Wins Primetime Week in 18-49 Demo

NBC has won the primetime ratings week of March 2-8, with the Monday and Tuesday editions of "The Voice" accounting for two of the week's top four primetime telecasts on the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49, adults 25-54 and adults 18-34, plus two of the top three in total viewers.

For the week, NBC averaged a 1.7 rating, 6 share in adults 18-49 and 7.0 million viewers overall, according to "live plus same day" viewing figures from Nielsen Media Research.

For the 2014-15 season to date, NBC ranks #1 or tied for #1 among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49 as well as adults 25-54, adults 18-34, women 18-34, women 18-49 and all key adult-male demos.

In total viewers, NBC is #2 for the season, and running within 8% of its year-ago Olympics-boosted average (9.3 million vs. 10.2 million), making this season and last NBC's two top-scoring seasons in total viewers at this point since 2006-07. This is the second year in a row NBC has ranked #2 in total viewers at this point in the season, marking first two times since 2003-04 that NBC has ranked as high as #2 in total viewers at this point.

Primetime averages for the week of March 2-8 in adults 18-49 are: NBC, 1.7/6; ABC, 1.6/5; Fox, 1.6/5; CBS, 1.4/4; and CW, 0.3/1. In overall total viewers, the weekly averages were: CBS, 8.6 million; NBC, 7.0 million; ABC, 6.2 million; Fox, 4.8 million; and CW, 1.0 million.

"Most current" averages for the season to date are: NBC, 2.7/8; CBS, 2.4/8; ABC, 2.2/7; Fox, 2.1/7; and CW, 0.8/3. In overall total viewers, the season averages are: CBS, 11.6 million; NBC, 9.3 million; ABC, 7.9 million; Fox, 6.2 million; and CW, 2.1 million.

NBC highlights for the week of March 2-8:

Monday

NBC won the night among the Big 4 in all key measures - adult, men and women 18-34, 18-49 and 25-54, plus total viewers - with "The Voice" (3.9 rating, 12 share in adults 18-49, 14.7 million viewers overall from 8-10:01 p.m. ET) the #1 show of the night on the Big 4 in every key category. "The Voice" ranked #1 by a +63% margin in adults 18-49 (3.9 vs. 2.4 for #2 "The Bachelor") and by more than 5.0 million viewers overall (14.7 million vs. 9.6 million for "Mike & Molly"). "The Voice" delivered its most-watched episode on any night of the week since Monday, March 3, 2014 (15.620 million). In total viewers, "The Voice" was up versus the prior week's season premiere by 5% (14.7 million vs. 14.0 million). It's the first time since THE FALL of 2012 that "The Voice" has grown from week 1 to week 2 with its Monday edition.

"Live Plus Three Day" Ratings: "The Voice" grew by +20% in 18-49 rating going from "live plus same day" to "live plus three day" Nielsens (from a 3.94 rating to a 4.73) and by more than 1.9 million viewers overall (from 14.7 million to 16.6 million), for its most-watched episode in L+3 since Monday, March 3, 2014 (17.4 million)..

"Live Plus Seven Day" Ratings: First-run editions of Monday's "Voice" this season have grown by +25% in L+7 vs. L+SD in 18-49 rating (from a 3.35 to a 4.20) and more than 2.1 million viewers overall (11.9 million to 14.1 million). .

"The Night Shift" (1.4/4 in 18-49, 6.3 million viewers overall from 10:01-11 p.m. ET) retained 93% of the previous week's season-premiere rating in 18-49 (1.4 vs. 1.5) and grew +11% in total viewers (6.1 million vs. 5.5 million). "The Night Shift" won the hour among ABC, CBS and NBC in adult 18-49 and other key demos. L+3: "The Night Shift" grew by +32% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (1.38 to 1.80). In total viewers, "Night Shift grew by 1.5 million persons (from 6.1 million to 7.6 million). L+7: "The Night Shift" increased by +40% last summer going from L+SD to L+7 in 18-49 (from a 1.36 rating to a 1.90) and more than 1.9 million viewers overall (from 6.6 million to 8.5 million).

Tuesday

NBC dominated Tuesday night in every key measure among the Big 4 networks, with the #1 and #2 shows of the night in 18-49, "The Voice" and "Chicago Fire."

"The Voice" (4.1/13 in 18-49, 15.5 million viewers overall from 8-10 p.m. ET) grew +5% week to week in 18-49 (4.1 vs. 3.9) and +10% in total viewers (15.5 million vs. 14.1 million). In 18-49, "The Voice" earned its highest Tuesday rating since Sept. 30, 2014 (4.1) and matched its high since Oct. 1, 2013 (4.5). In total viewers, "The Voice" delivered its second-most-watched Tuesday telecast ever, best since the June 18, 2013 season finale (15.6 million). "The Voice" grew dramatically through the two hours, with this 18-49 half-hour track: 3.6, 4.0, 4.1, 4.5. From its first-half-hour to its fourth, "The Voice" grew by 0.9 of a rating point or +25%.

L+3: "The Voice" increased by +17% in 18-49 going from L+SD to L+3 (4.11 to 4.83). In total viewers, "The Voice" grew by 1.8 million persons (from 15.5 million to 17.3 million), for its most-watched Tuesday telecast ever in L+3. L+7: Originals of Tuesday's "Voice" have grown by an average of +24% in 18-49 rating this season (from a 3.24 to a 4.02) and more than 1.9 million viewers overall (12.1 million to 14.0 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

"Chicago Fire" (2.1/7 in 18-49, 9.1 million viewers overall from 10-11 p.m. ET) jumped +50% versus its prior telecast in 18-49 (2.1 vs. 1.4 on Feb. 17) and +45% in total viewers (9.1 million vs. 6.3 million). This week's "Chicago Fire" earned the show's highest 18-49 rating since Nov. 18 (2.1) and most-watched episode since the show's season premiere (9.157 million on Sept. 23).. In the time period, "Chicago Fire" dominated the ABC-CBS-NBC competition in every key measure.

L+3: "Chicago Fire" grew in L+3 vs. L+SD by +43% in 18-49 rating (2.13 to 3.05, the show's high L+3 rating since the Nov. 11 crossover episode with "SVU" and "Chicago P.D.") and 2.9 million persons (9.1 million to 12.0 million). L+7: "Chicago Fire" first-runs have increased by an average +62% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.85 to a 2.99) and 3.5 million viewers overall (7.4 million to 10.9 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

Wednesday

A "Best of the Blinds" encore recap of "The Voice" (2.1/6 in 18-49, 8.6 million viewers overall from 8-10:01 p.m. ET) delivered NBC's best ratings in the slot since Nov. 12 (with a "Voice" live results show and "SVU," 2.4 in 18-49, 10.3 million viewers overall). The "Voice" encore recap topped Fox's original "American Idol" head-to-head from 8-9 p.m. in adults 18-49 (2.2 vs. 2.1) and finished within 0.1 of the time-period lead held by CBS's original "Survivor" and ABC's comedies from 8-9 p.m. (2.2 vs. 2.3).

An encore telecast of "Chicago P.D." (1.1/3 in 18-49, 4.8 million viewers overall from 10:01-11 p.m. ET) delivered series highs for a rebroadcast in 18-49 and total viewers.

Thursday

"The Slap" (0.8/3 in 18-49, 3.9 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) grew +14% or 0.1 of a rating point week to week in adults 18-49 (0.8 vs. 0.7), to match its highest rating since the show's Feb. 12 premiere (1.1). This week's telecast also grew +7% week to week in total viewers (3.9 million vs. 3.7 million), +10% in adults 25-54 (1.1 vs. 1.0) and +33% in men 25-54 (0.8 vs. 0.6). L+3: The prior week's "Slap" grew in L+3 vs. L+SD by +48% in 18-49 rating (0.71 to 1.05) and in total viewers by 1.1 million persons (3.7 million to 4.8 million). L+7: "The Slap" growing by an average of +43% in 18-49 rating (from a 0.97 to a 1.39) and more than 1.4 million viewers overall (4.5 million to 6.0 million) going from L+SD to L+7. Upscale: "The Slap" has been a solid upscale attraction, delivering a 128 index of adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes ("most current" including L+3, with 100 representing an average concentration of those homes)..

"The Blacklist" (1.8/5 in 18-49, 8.2 million viewers overall from 9-10:01 p.m. ET) built on this week's lead-in by +113% in 18-49 and +110% in total viewers. "The Blacklist" finished within 0.1 of the prior week's 18-49 rating and was up +5% in total viewers (8.2 million vs. 7.9 million). The 8.2 million is a four-week high for "The Blacklist," making this its most-watched episode since the show's Thursday debut on Feb. 5 (10.111 million). It was "Blacklist'" second consecutive week-to-week gain in total viewers.

L+3: The prior week's "Blacklist" grew in L+3 vs. L+SD by +76% in 18-49 rating (1.86 to 3.2z8) and in total viewers by 4.8 million persons (8.0 million to 12.8 million), the biggest increase on the night among Big 4 primetime programs. In total viewers, "The Blacklist" jumped from the #7 telecast of the night on the Big 4 in L+SD to the #2 program in L+3 (and the #1 drama). L+7: This season, originals of "The Blacklist" are increasing by an average of +63% in 18-49 rating (from a 2.97 to a 4.84) and more than 6.0 million viewers overall (11.0 million to 17.0 million) going from L+SD to L+7. Upscale: "The Blacklist" was the prior Thursday's most upscale primetime telecast on the Big 4 in L+SD, indexing at a 126 among adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes (100 represents an average concentration of those homes).

"Allegiance" (0.8/3 in 18-49, 3.3 million viewers overall from 10:01-11 p.m. ET) maintained 100% of last week's 18-49 rating and was up +10% week to week in adults 25-54 (1.1 vs. 1.0). L+3: The previous week's "Allegiance" grew in L+3 vs. L+SD by +42% in 18-49 rating (0.77 to 1.09) and in total viewers by 1.5 million persons (3.5 million to 5.0 million). L+7: "Allegiance" originals have grown by an average of +54% in 18-49 rating (from a 0.90 to a 1.39) and 2.1 million viewers overall (4.0 million to 6.1 million) going from L+SD to L+7. Upscale: "Allegiance" delivers a strong concentration of upscale viewers, indexing at a 135 for adults 18-49 living in homes with $100K+ incomes (100 represents an average concentration of those homes, "most current" including L+3).

Friday

An encore telecast of "Law & Order: SVU" (0.6/2 in 18-49, 4.3 million viewers overall from 8-9 p.m. ET) increased its rating from its first half-hour to its second in every key measure. The "SVU" encore grew half-hour to half-hour by +17% in adults 18-49 (0.6 to 0.7), +13% in total viewers (3.9 million to 4.4 million), +22% in adults 25-54 (0.9 to 1.1) and +18% in women 25-54 (1.1 to 1.3).

"Dateline NBC" (1.3/5 in 18-49, 6.5 million viewers overall from 9-11 p.m. ET) reported its highest Friday adults 18-49 rating and top Friday adult 25-54 result (1.9) since Jan. 23 (1.3 in 18-49, 1.9 in 25-54 from 10-11 p.m.) and equaled its Friday highs since Nov. 21, 2014 (1.5 in 18-49, 2.0 in 25-54 from 8-9 p.m.). It's also the most-watched Friday "Dateline" since Dec. 19 (6.8 million from 9-11 p.m.). "Dateline NBC" tied for the time period win in adults 18-49 (1.3 from 9-11 p.m., tied with CBS).

L+3: The prior week's "Dateline" on Feb. 27 grew by +22% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.22 to a 1.49) and 948,000 viewers overall (6.3 million to 7.3 million) going from L+SD to L+3. L+7: Friday's "Dateline" is increasing by an average of +24% in 18-49 rating (from a 1.23 to a 1.53) and 916,000 viewers overall (6.2 million to 7.1 million) going from L+SD to L+7.

Saturday

"Caught on Camera with Nick Cannon" (0.6/2 in 18-49, 2.4 million viewers overall from 8-8:30 p.m. ET) tied for the time-period lead among the Big 4 networks in adults 18-48 and ranked #1 outright among those nets in adults 18-34 and all key adult-male demos.

NBC Sports telecast of "Premier Boxing Champions," with bouts featuring Keith Thurman vs. Robert Guerrero, and Adrien Broner vs. John Molina Jr. (1.1/4 in 18-49, 3.4 million viewers overall from 8:30-11 p.m. ET), ranked as the #1 show of the night on the Big 4 networks in adults 18-49, adults 18-34, adults 25-54 and all key adult-male demos. "Premier Boxing Champions" increased every half-hour in adults 18-49 and total viewers, peaking at a 1.4 rating and 4.2 million viewers from 10:30-11 p.m. ET for the final six rounds of the Thurman-Guerrero bout. From its first half-hour to its fifth, "Premier Boxing Champions" doubled its 18-49 rating (0.7 to 1.4) and grew by +69% or 1.7 million persons in total viewers (2.5 million to 4.2 million).

NBC won the night among the Big 4 in adults 18-49, adults 18-34, adults 25-54 and all key adult-male demos.

Sunday

An encore telecast of "The Voice" (0.8/3 in 18-49, 3.6 million viewers overall from 7-9 p.m. ET) grew by 0.7 of a rating point or +140% from its first half-hour to its fourth in adults 18-49 (0.5 to 1.2) and +85% or 2.2 million persons in total viewers (2.6 million to 4.8 million).

"Dateline NBC" averaged a 0.8/2 in 18-49 and 3.7 million viewers overall from 9-11 p.m. ET and maintained its week-ago rating in this time period in adults 25-54 (1.1).
