Music Icons Luis Fonsi Alejandra Guzmán, Carlos Vives and Wisin Are Ready For Grand Premiere Of Telemundo's LA VOZ This Sunday

Award-winning Latinx music megastars Luis Fonsi, Alejandra Guzmán, Carlos Vives and Wisin, are ready to discover some of the most promising Spanish-speaking vocalists in the nation as Coaches of Telemundo's highly anticipated singing competition LA VOZ (The Voice), premiering this Sunday, January 13 at 9pm/8c. Viewers will witness the first group of contestants going on stage to impress the Coaches with their voice during the "Blind Auditions" of the first-ever Spanish-language edition for the U.S., hosted by renowned TV personality Jorge Bernal.

LA VOZ, which is part of Telemundo's new prime-time programming slate under the theme "January Reloaded," features the following three rounds:

  • "Blind Auditions" is the first phase of LA VOZ, where the Coaches, facingaway from the stage, will hear the contestants perform. If a Coach is impressed by a contestant's voice, he/she pushes the red button to rotate the chair. If only one coach turns, the contestant is automatically in his/her team. If more than one Coach pushes the button, the contestant has the full power to choose his/her Coach. If no Coach presses the button, the contestant is eliminated from the competition. Once the four Coaches complete their teams with 12 contestants, 48 contestants will move forward to the second phase of the competition, "The Battles."
  • "The Battles" is where Coaches start developing their teams and during rehearsals invite one of their music celebrity friends to join them as Advisors to their team. During this phase, each Coach will stage six Battles in the ring, with each Battle pitting two of the Coach's own team members against each other to sing the same song together in front of a studio audience. After each Battle, the Coach will have to make the difficult decision of which of his/her two contestants is the winner and will move on to the last round, known as the "Live Shows." Coaches will have two opportunities to "steal," allowing them to prevent a contestant who was eliminated during another Coach's Battle to go home, and become part of his/her team.
  • The "Live Shows" is the last phase where each of the Coaches' team members compete against each other in a series of spectacular individual on-stage performances. This is one of the most exciting phases where viewers will have the exclusive opportunity to vote for their favorite contestants and decide who will be crowned as the first season winner of LA VOZ, receiving a $100,000 cash prize and a recording contract with Universal Music Group to produce, record and commercially release a single.

LA VOZ fans can join Telemundo.com/LaVoz and its Youtube channel during the exciting search along with digital reporter Jessica Cediel, who will bring the latest scoop on the Coaches and contestants from a unique backstage, all-access perspective. The official site will also feature exclusive interviews, music performances and photo galleries. Viewers can also follow Facebook, Twitter and Instagram @LaVozUS using #LaVozUS, and join all the action of their favorite team with the Coaches hashtags: #TeamFonsi; #TeamGuzman; #TeamVives; and #TeamWisin.
