Miramax Returns To High School With THE TWENTY YEAR

Miramax has preemptively acquired the rights to Peter Hoare's comedy pitch, THE TWENTY YEAR. Hoare's writing credits include KEVIN CAN WAIT and STANDING UP, FALLING DOWN, which will premiere at the 2019 Tribeca Film Festival. The studio is fast tracking development with Matthew Anderson at Miramax supervising the comedy.

20 years ago, two warring high school students raised a sum of money to go toward their class' eventual 20-year reunion. Now, two decades later, these women have to reluctantly reunite in order to access that bank account. Unfortunately, they also need to track down the teacher who opened this account with them...a teacher who had a nervous breakdown that nobody's seen in years.

"I'm thrilled to be making this movie with Miramax. There's so much inherent comedy in how some people can completely reinvent themselves...and how others can remain exactly the same, to a fault," said Peter Hoare.

Added Matthew Anderson, VP of Production & Development, "We're BEYOND excited to take this journey with a writer as talented as Peter. His pitch was hilarious; we sparked to it immediately and can't wait to develop this truly unique project together."

Peter Hoare is repped by Kailey Marsh at Brillstein Entertainment Partners, CAA and Hayes Robbins at Stone Genow Smelkinson Binder & Christopher.

Acquired by beIN Media Group and headquartered in Los Angeles, MIRAMAX is a global film and television studio best known for its award-winning and original content. Nasser Al-Khelaifi serves as Chairman of MIRAMAX and beIN Media Group. Bill Block is CEO of MIRAMAX.
