Deadline reports that Mark Consuelos has joined the cast of USA Network's QUEEN OF THE SOUTH in a recurring role.

The series is based on Arturo Pérez-Reverte's best-selling book La Reina Del Sur and follows the story of Teresa Mendoza (played by Alice Braga) whose "drug-dealing boyfriend is unexpectedly murdered in Mexico. She is forced to go on the run and seek refuge in America, where she teams with an unlikely figure from her past to bring down the leader of the very drug trafficking ring that has her on the run."

Consuelos will portray Teo Aljarafe, described as "a lawyer who Camila Vargas (Veronica Falcón) hires to organize financial affairs. Attracted to THE LIFE and power that the cartel world brings, Teo will soon realize that when you're in for a penny you're in for a pound, and he is in with the cartel way too deep."

Currently under production in Dallas, the series is set to debut later this year. Consuelos currently stars on DirecTV's drama Kingdom, and will soon be seen in a guest role in Hulu's Difficult People. He will soon hit the big screen in Nine Lives, and All We Had, marking Katie Holmes' directorial debut.
