MTV Latin America, IDB Youth and Fundación DJ announced today the launch of DJ Agentes de Cambio calling DJs across Latin America to use their rock star powers for good by amplifying social responsible messages amongst youth in Latin America through their public performances and social media reach. The first campaign will be in support of IDB's Road Safety initiative and one DJ will be selected to be profiled on-air on MTV Latin America as a DJ Agent of Change.

Each year, more than 1.3 million people die on the world's roads, and close to 50 million suffer nonfatal injuries. Road accidents are now the leading cause of death in the Latin American region among people aged 15 to 29.

"We feel that through Fundación DJ's initiative IDB will further its socially responsible initiatives and get young adults involved in activities that can impact the world in a very big and positive way. IDB is extremely excited to help foster a new generation of young social activists. We hope that they set the trend for the youth of years to come, "said Elena Suarez, IDB's Chief Special Programs Section.

power for good. In addition, DJs can enter the Road Safety Contest uploading their photos, videos or websites illustrating how they spread the Road Safety messages and inspired their fans during their public events and social media like Facebook and Twitter to take action. The grand prize winner will be featured in the DJ Agente de Cambio blog and will appear on-air on MTV Latin America. The contest will run from Monday, February 25 through Tuesday, April 30th and the winner will be profiled on-air in a 60 second capsule on MTV Latin America during the month of June 2013.

"We are thrilled to be working in this new project in collaboration with IDB and Fundación DJ and we are certain that this initiative would make a difference in our youth" commented Mario Cader-Frech, VP Public Affairs & Corporate Responsibility MTV Latin America. "Our purpose is to do good by promoting good behavior while at the same time keeping young people motivated" he added.

"I'm passionate about DJing and I know firsthand the incredible power that a DJ has, not only to move people through music, but to influence them with positive messages. I'm excited that Fundación DJ will bring this incredible opportunity to existing DJs all over Latin America to empower them to be a vehicle of great music and a positive message that can change society,"said Mauricio Parra, Founder of Fundación DJ.
