MEDINAH, First Ever Sci-Fi Television Series From the Middle East to Premiere at Comic-Con

Medinah, the first ever international sci-fi/fantasy television series from the Middle East, will be premiering at Comic-Con 2017 on Thursday, July 20th. A new original series created by Middle Eastern filmmaker Ahmed Al Baker developed and realized by the creative team whose credits include JigSaw, Piranha 3D, Caprica, 12 Monkeys, Ghoulies, Battlestar Galactica, Fallen, Drone, Smallville and A Good Day To Die Hard.

This mind-bending series partly set in a near-future Qatar, begins after a rocket, designed to disperse thousands of metric tons of sulfur dioxide into Earth's stratosphere to offset the greenhouse effect that has caused the global warming crisis, inexplicably fails and crashes. In the subsequent aftermath, we are introduced to an international cast of survivors - both human, and "human-like". As they face monsters, nightmares, parallel realities and their own personal demons, these heroes must decide what is most important: Survival? Legacy? Love?

Medinah's diverse cast includes Academy Award nominee Eric Roberts (The Dark Knight, The Expendables), sci-fi icon Natasha Henstridge (Species, Beauty and the Beast), Rick Ravanello (Criminal Minds, NCIS), Tamoh Penikett (Battlestar Galactica, Dollhouse) and Eyad Hourani (Omar, Rattle the Cage). Cast and crew members will be participating in a panel discussion immediately following the screening and the celebration will continue at the Hyatt Hotel, where an iconic set piece of Medinah will be recreated for an after-party as well as interactive fan engagements.

This unique series, half in English and half in Arabic (subtitles included), is themed to represent how people of all cultures can work together to succeed - hopefully a metaphor for the world.

"Medinah" is the first show from the Middle East to participate at Comic Con.
