According to The Hollywood Reporter, actors John Carroll Lynch and Nicholas Bishop will not return to the ABC drama series BODY OF PROOF when the show returns for its third season. The two series regulars have appeared on the medical drama since its debut in 2011. According to the report, the options for both actor were not picked up for next season.

Bishop's investigator Peter Dunlop last appeared on the show severely injured after being stabbed by an embalmer's sharp instrument during a fight. Lynch's Detective Bud Morris had a more upbeat farewell as he was last seen attending a baby shower with his wife.

BODY OF PROOF was renewed by the network in May for a shortened third season which will consist of 13 epidodes. Its season finale in April drew 10 million viewers and a 1.9 rating in the coveted adults 18-49 demographic.

The announcement marks the second departure of a star from an ABC drama series. Last week it was revealed that Tim Daly would not be returning to ABC's 'Private Practice' for the show's sixth season.
