Longhorn Network, the 24-hour network devoted to The University of Texas, will debut TEXAS CHEER Thursday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. CT. A sports documentary, Texas Cheer will give viewers an intimate and up-close look at what it takes to become a part of the prestigious University of Texas Spirit Squad.

Filming on this unique documentary took place in the days leading to the Texas Longhorns' match-up with Notre Dame, the first UT football game of the 2016 season. Texas Cheer illustrates the dramatic events inside cheerleader tryouts, highlighting the athleticism, training and dedication demanded of every participant seeking a coveted spot on the cheering squad.

"Texas Cheer reveals the challenges faced by UT students who aspire to become a part of these elite athletic groups-showing both rookies and veterans as they compete for a chance to be a part of Longhorn game day and join one of the most celebrated cheer teams in the nation," said Alyssa Reese, Spirit Program Director, UT Athletics.

Texas has a long and storied history with their Spirit Squad, which is divided among three spirit groups-Orange, White and Pom, and all are depicted in Texas Cheer. Each spirit group plays an important role, and many student athletes are vying to join this highly sought after cheerleading program.

The drama of the competition, the hopes of each athlete as they demonstrate their best cheerleading abilities, and the joy of fulfilling a lifelong dream, all come into focus during Texas Cheer.
