Lionsgate is in Negotiations for Roger Ailes Movie

Lionsgate is in talks to back the Fox News - Roger Ailes film, according to Variety. The untitled Fox News sexual harassment film stars Charlize Theron and Nicole Kidman.

Lionsgate had no comment when asked about the negotiations on Monday. The film was originally backed by Annapurna, but the company decided to back out on October 9th due to budgetary concerns. Bron Studios is expected to co-finance the film.

However, the film still remains attractive due to its pedigree and its cast, which includes Kidman, Theron, John Lithgow, Allison Janney, Malcolm McDowell, Kate McKinnon, and Margot Robbie.

Jay Roach directed the film with a screenplay by Academy Award winner Charles Randolph.

The movie focuses on Ailes' downfall as seen through the eyes of a group of female employees. Kidman will play Gretchen Carlson, the Fox News anchor who sued Ailes for harassment in 2016, and Theron will portray Megyn Kelly, whose decision to go public with her own story of abuse became a key turning point.

Lithgow will play Ailes and McDowell will play News Corp chairman Rupert Murdoch.
