Lauren Ambrose & Robbie Arnell Join FOX's THE X-FILES

Variety reports that Lauren Ambrose and Robbie Amell have signed on to guest star in an upcoming episode of FOX's THE X FILES six-episode event series.

Ambrose will portray Agent Einstein described as "sharp" and "confident" while Arnell's Agent Miller is "smart" and "smooth." Sources tell the site that it will not be a flashback episode, but rather, will be set in the present day.

As previously announced David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson will reprise their roles in the project. Mitch Pileggi and William B. Davis will also return. Other stars set for guest appearances include Joel McHale, Annet Mahendru, Rhys Darby and Kumail Nanjiani.

The six-episode series premieres on Jan. 24 on FOX following the NFC championship game.

Ambrose's theater credits include 2009's Exit the King. She made her Broadway debut in 2006's Tony Award-winning production of Awake and Sing!
