Despite earlier reports that a sequel to the 1986 cult film LABYRINTH starring David Bowie and Jennifer Connelly had been stalled, The Hollywood Reporter now writes that Tri-Star and Jim Henson Co. have reached a deal to move forward with the project.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY co-writer Nicole Perlman is writing the script. She is also currently penning CAPTAIN MARVEL. No word yet on whether the film will be a reboot or a sequel.

In LABYRINTH, 15-year-old Sarah (Connelly) accidentally wishes her baby half-brother, Toby, away to the Goblin King Jareth (Bowie), who will keep Toby if Sarah does not complete his Labyrinth in 13 hours.

Henson helmed the original film from a script by Monty Python's Terry Jones, with George Lucas on board as executive producer.
