Kathy Griffin Revisits Controversy and How She's Single-Handedly Relaunching Her Career

Kathy Griffin, who is currently embarking on a North American tour, ironically called "Laugh Your Head Off," talked to the Chicago Tribune about how she's working herself to relaunch her career following last year's controversy.

The controversy, of course, being when Griffin was photographed holding a severed head that resembled the president's.

"Nobody will give me a platform. It's hilarious," the comedian said. "Everyone thinks I'm toxic."

But she's not letting that get to her, and apparently neither are her fans.

"I'm like, 'Go ahead ... because I'm going to sell out Carnegie Hall and I'm going to then play Radio City the night before just as a middle finger to you.'"

However, Griffin assures fans that she is not going into the world of political comedy, and that her show will still feature the same gossip queen/reality star that people know and love.

"It's funny first. It's a comedy show," she said. "It's got some layers to it because there's some real (stuff) in there like I've never truly experienced. But don't worry. This is not Lenny Bruce reading his court transcripts. This is your good old hometown Kathy still being vulgar and funny."
