Kate McKinnon in Talks To Join Danny Boyle Directed Universal Comedy

According to the Hollywood Reporter, SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE star Kate McKinnon is in negotiations to joins Lily James in Danny Boyle's untitled comedy for Universal and Working Title.

Richard Curtis wrote the script, which is keeping its logline close to the vest. It is known to be musically themed and set in the 1960s or '70s. McKinnon will play a talent agent. James is playing a teacher. Universal is eyeing a summer shoot for the project.

Working Title's Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner will produce alongside Matt Wilkinson and Bernie Bellew. Curtis and Boyle will also produce.

A cast member of "Saturday Night Live" since April 2012, Kate McKinnon has entertained viewers with her notable impressions of Ann Romney, Ellen Degeneres and Penelope Cruz as well as her standout Weekend Update turns as artist Cecilia Giminez and Russian meteor witness Olga Povlatsky. McKinnon's work on "SNL" landed her on Forbes' "30 Under 30" list for 2012. McKinnon also appeared in The Big Gay Sketch Show, and played the role of Dr. Jillian Holtzmann in the 2016 Ghostbustersreboot.

McKinnon is known for her character work and celebrity impressions of pop singer Justin Bieber, comedian television host Ellen DeGeneres, and political figures Hillary Clinton, Kellyanne Conway, Elizabeth Warren, Betsy DeVos, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and Jeff Sessions. She has been nominated for five Primetime Emmy Awards; one for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics and four for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series, winning in 2016 and 2017.
