'Jumanji' Tops the Box Office for Second Week in a Row

The New York Times reports that Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle has topped the box office for the second week in a row. The movie earned $27 million this weekend to bring its total to $283 million in four weeks.

Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks' The Post appears to be coming in second place, taking in $18 million in its first week. FOX is hoping to build word of mouth with the goal of gaining potential Oscar attention. Nominations are released next week.

On the less successful side was The Commuter with Liam Neeson, which opened with $13.4 million. Paddington 2 also made just $10.6 million, less than half of what its prequel made in 2014.

This week, Star Wars: The Last Jedi also moved up to 10th place on the list of the world's highest-earning films, having made $1.2 billion total so far.
