E!online reports that Jon Favreau will give up his director's hat for the upcoming sequel IRON MAN 3 and instead appear in an acting capacity. The actor will reprise his role as Tony Stark's bodyguard, Happy Hogan in the film. "BTW", tweeted Favreau from the set of the movie as he posted a photo (at left) of his chair with "Hogan's" name on the back.

It remains unclear how big of a role Favreau will take on in the third installment of the blockbuster franchise. In the first film, his character made a cameo appearance, yet his role grew significantly in the second feature film. Shooting began on Wednesday in North Carolina.

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang director Shane Black will take the helm of the third film whose cast includes Robert Downey, Gwyneth Paltrow and Don Cheadle, all reprising their roles. Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, James Badge Dale and Ben Kingsley will join the cast, while Ashley Hamilton is currently in talks to play one of the villains.
