Jennifer Lopez to Develop Drama for ABC Family

As first reported in The Hollywood Reporter, Jennifer Lopez is developing a drama project for ABC Family under her Nuyorican Productions company. The hourlong project will follow a lesbian couple and their children who take a teenager into their home.  

According to the report, Lopez will executive produce the project with Simon Fields, Greg Gugliotta  and co-creators and writers Peter Paige and Brad Bredeweg. Lopez recently served as EP on FOX's talent competition Q'Viva: The Chosen and MTV's Dancelife. She will soon executive produce the series 'Amigas Inc.', beginning this fall on cable net Tres.

Lopez' first came to the attention of American audiences when she starred in the title role of 1997's “Selena.” She won the Outstanding Actress ALMA Award, and won her second award from ALMA for her role in the 1998 film “Out of Sight.” Since then Lopez has starred in several films, including 2001's “The Wedding Planner,” 2002's “Maid in Manhattan,” 2004's “Shall We Dance?,” 2005's “Monster-in-Law” and 2010's “The Back-up Plan.”

In 1999, Lopez released “On the 6,” her debut album. The set spawned “If You Had My Love,” a No. 1 hit single. She released “J.Lo,” her second album, in 2001. It sold eight million worldwide copies and was a huge commercial success. In 2002, she released “J to tha L-O!: The Remixes.” It was her second set in a row to debut in the No. 1 spot on Billboard's 200 chart. Her next two studio albums, 2002's “This Is Me” and 2005's “Rebirth” peaked in the No. 2 spot. In 2007, Lopez released “Brave” and “Como ama una Mujer,” her first Spanish language set. Her recent album “Love?” was released in April 2011 and has sold more than 55 million worldwide records.
