James Franco in Talks to Play Hugh Hefner in LOVELACE

Variety reports that actor James Franco is currently in talks to star in the upcoming film biopic LOVELACE in the role of Hugh Hefner. Franco has previously worked with the film's directors Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman in the movie 'Howl'.

Yesterday it was announced that Broadway veteran Bobby Cannavale, Hank Azaria, Chris Noth and Robert Patrick would be joining the cast of the film which stars Amanda Seyfried in the role of the iconic Linda Lovelace. Lovelace is the American pornographic actress who was famous for her performance in the popular 1972 hardcore porn film 'Deep Throat'. It is based on Eric Danville's biography 'The Complete Linda Lovelace'.

Azaria will play the role of 'Deep Throat' director Jerry Damiano, while Noth and Cannavale will portray the movie's financial investors, Anthony Romano and Butchie Peraino. Patrick has been cast as Lovelace's father, John. Previously announced cast members include Peter Sarsgaard as Lovelace's husband, Chuck Traynor, Sharon Stone, Juno Temple and Wes Bentley.

'Lovelace' is in currently in production in Los Angeles.

James Franco recently starred in the movie "127 Hours", for which he received an Oscar nomination last year. His other film credits include "Eat, Love, Pray," "Date Night," "Milk" and "Pineapple Express." Franco is also known for his portrayals of Harry Osborn in the "Spider-Man" trilogy.
