Ian Somerhalder Relishes Being the Bad Seed In 'Vampire Diaries'

Ian Somerhalder, who plays Damon, the bad seed brother in the new series 'Vampire Diaries', has plenty to flash his fangs in celebration for.

Entertainment Weekly reports that 'Vampire Diaries', based on the young fiction book series by LJane Smith drew the biggest ratings for a debut series in the history of the CW. Read the rest of the story here.

Model, actor and producer, Somerhalder gained his first major acting break in 'The Rules of Attraction', Roger Avary's adaptation of the Bret Easton Ellis novel. Other TV appearances include 'Smallvillage', 'CSI: Crime Scene Investigation', 'Law and Order: Special Victims Unit', and 'The Big Easy'. Somerhalder was also a child model, and was the face of GUESS? for two seasons. He continues to model with his agency DNA Model Management in New York City, and Priscilla's Model Management in Sydney, Australia.

Somerhalder played Boone in the first season of the TV cult classic 'Lost'. Fans will be happy to read that he will reprise his role appearing in a few episodes in the coming season.

In 2005, Somerhalder also had a part in the Off-Broadway play, ‘Dod Sees God: Confessions Of A Teenage Blockhead' a play by Bert V. Royal which was staged at the Century Center for the Performing Arts, and directed by Trip Cullman.

The cast of 'Dog Sees God' featured Eddie Kaye Thomas (known as Finch in the "American Pie" films), Eliza Dushku ("Bring it On," "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"), and America Ferrera ("Ugly Betty"). The play was a hit at the 2004 New York International Fringe Festival, winning an Excellence Award for Best Overall Production, as well as Theatermania's Best Play of 2004, and the GLAAD Media Award for Best Off-Off-Broadway production.
