Henry Cavill Reportedly Out as Superman

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Henry Cavill, the star of three Superman films, is parting ways with Warner Bros.

Warner Bros. wanted Cavill to make a Superman cameo in the Shazam! film starring Zachary Levi, but contract talks between Cavill's WME reps and Warner Bros. broke down, and the door is now closing on other potential Superman appearances.

A statement from a Warner Bros. spokesperson read: "While no decisions have been made regarding any upcoming Superman films, we've always had great respect for and a great relationship with Henry Cavill, and that remains unchanged."

Warner Bros. has shifted its focus to a SUPERGIRL movie, an origin story, which would remove an actor of Cavill's age from the storyline given that Superman would be an infant.

No official word has been made, but "There's a recognition that some parts of the previous movies didn't work," says a Warner Bros. studio insider. Another source says Warners is trying to hit a "reset" button with the DC universe, steering its ship slowly into another direction.
