As first reported on The Hollywood Reporter, actress Hailee Steinfeld has joined the cast of filmmaker John Carney's upcoming music-themed drama CAN A SONG SAVE YOUR LIFE? Steinfeld, who received an Oscar nomination for her performance in last year's 'True Grit', will co-star in the film with Mark Ruffalo and Scarlett Johansson.
The film will center on a "character who moves to New York to pursue her dreams of a singing career but finds herself all alone when she's dumped by her boyfriend. A down-on-his-luck record producer (Ruffalo) finds her singing in a local bar and the two realize they may be each other's last chance to turn their lives around." Steinfeld will portray Ruffalo's daughter in the film.
Judd Apatow will executive produce the movie which will begin shooting in June.
Steinfeld will next be seen in 'Romeo and Julliet' playing the role of Julliet alongside Damian Lewis and Paul Giamatti. Her upcoming projects include 'Ender's Game', based on the sci-fi novel, and 'Forgotten' from Paramount.
