Fox Cancels '24' After Eight Seasons

By: Mar. 27, 2010

Fox has cancelled the realtime action drama '24' after eight seasons. The show stars Kiefer Sutherland as anti-terrorism agent 'Jack Bauer'. The series finale is expected to air May 24, 2010.

In a statement, Sutherland says, "This has been the role of a lifetime, and I will never be able to fully express my appreciation to everyone who made it possible....But when all is said and done, it is the loyal worldwide fan base that made it possible for me to have the experience of playing the role of Jack Bauer, and for that I am eternally grateful."

'24' has received a slew of Emmy and Golden Globe nominations, winning a 2003 Golden Globe for Best Drama Series and the 2006 Emmy for Oustanding Drama Series. The show has also garnered Sutherland a Golden Globe Award for Best Actor in a Drama Series and an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor.

A movie adaptation of '24' is said to be in the works.
