TRENTON, NJ - Former Garden State Governor Jim McGreevey gives a candid interview this week on NJTV's On The Record with Michael Aron.

A decade ago, McGreevey announced he was a "gay American" and resigned after disclosing an extramarital affair with a man.

The half-hour interview, recorded this morning at NJTV's Statehouse studio in Trenton, included conversation about McGreevey's sexuality, from his earliest struggles thinking he "had a disease" and being closeted (Paul Lynde and Liberace were not the people he wanted to "emulate") to the mounting pressures of political life, citing the "overwhelming need for (political) survival" and fundraising from which he's grateful to now be separated. He also comments on today's societal strides in the acceptance of gay life.

Watch On the Record with Michael Aron Saturday at 6:30pm and Sunday at 10am on NJTV (check local listings).

The interview with also be posted on the show's webpage next week.
